CRC Proposal #91, No Oil and Gas Drilling, Yes or No?
This coming Thursday, December 14th, I will be presenting CRC proposal #91 to the General Provisions committee, the committee I chair. For the presentation and vote, I will be turning this part of the meeting over to Vice-Chair, Emery Gainey as is proper form. Just as with any other proposal, #91 needs your support! With every passing day, I feel more strongly about this proposal. As we are witnessing right now, long-standing, pristine lands across our country are being tapped for oil and gas. Florida’s tourist, beach, and water-economy, and its abundant coastal wildlife, demand there is no oil and gas drilling in the territorial waters of the state.

1 A proposal to amend
2 Section 7 of Article II of the State Constitution to
3 prohibit oil drilling for exploration and extraction
4 in specified coastal waters.

6 Be It Proposed by the Constitution Revision Commission of
7 Florida:

9 Section 7 of Article II of the State Constitution is
10 amended to read:
11 ARTICLE II
12 GENERAL PROVISIONS
13 SECTION 7. Natural resources and scenic beauty.—
14 (a) It shall be the policy of the state to conserve and
15 protect its natural resources and scenic beauty. Adequate
16 provision shall be made by law for the abatement of air and
17 water pollution and of excessive and unnecessary noise and for
18 the conservation and protection of natural resources.
19 (b) Those in the Everglades Agricultural Area who cause
20 water pollution within the Everglades Protection Area or the
21 Everglades Agricultural Area shall be primarily responsible for
22 paying the costs of the abatement of that pollution. For the
23 purposes of this subsection, the terms “Everglades Protection
24 Area” and “Everglades Agricultural Area” shall have the meanings
25 as defined in statutes in effect on January 1, 1996.
26 (c) To protect the people of Florida and their environment,
27 oil drilling for exploration or extraction is prohibited in and
28 beneath all state waters between the mean high tide line and the
29 outermost boundaries of the state’s territorial seas. This
30 prohibition does not apply to the transportation of oil and gas
31 products produced outside of such waters. This section is self
32 executing.
A definite no, to oil and gas drilling in Florida. Our environment is already being destroyed by developers with too much building and too many people living here. More than is sustainable by Florida’s fragile environment. Thank you for fighting for us!

Florida can handle the population but not if you destroy the environment. Right now we have a all for me none for you government that has for years treated the citizens like a bee keeper treats his bees. You let them work their ass off and then you rob them leaveing them just enough to survive on. Our media is all about propaganda .If they reported the truth they would show the blood and guts carnage that happens on our highways every day. Instead of trying move people toward being self sufficient at home and not useing oil they are building more roads.Every year 40thousand die and 6,000,000 are injured. I would bet much of this 6 miollion wish they had died.A few years ago I did not care much one way or the other about politics but have since come to realize they have killed our lagoon(with their bribe takeing and lying) on purpose.
I have given more thought on teaching kids in school how to survive a disaster. First I think desasters need the be labeled as internal and external. Internal desasters would be surviveing things like living in a home where parents are addicted to things like gambling—alcohol—heroin—cocaine—cigarettes—lack of food–money–water—shelter–death–illness –incarcerated(prison) of parent or provider.etc.. External desasters would be things like car wrecks—earthquakes–volcanos–solar flairs —tsunamis— hurricanes–diseases–etc.. I think every child should know how to dehydrate and vacume seal food and how to make clean water to drink. Most of the people I have worked with over the years lives were a disaster before they even started working. Just one example is my friends I had in Mississippi. They had 6 kids and lived in a single wide trailer. They each smoked 2 packs of cigs. a day. All these kids were addicted to tobacco long before they ALL smoked their first cigarette. If a worker has a 5 minute cigarette break and smokes a pack in a 10 hour work day that comes to almost 2 hours of standing around smoking a cigarette every work day. 5 dollars a pack comes to a 300 dollar every 1-2 month habit. What good is math–science–and all the rest if you don’t have food in your belly?Well I could go on and on but I am certain the grown ups who learned first hand how to survive these desasters would know the skills it takes much better than me.
I forgot to mention fires—fire prevention—guns—GUN SAFETY—terrorism —nuke accident —tornados–floods and more. Last year when our company helped build your hospital off Tradition Blvd. there was hundreds of local people applied for a job but none could pass the background check and drug test. The one local guy I had helping me had to leave after they had a random drug test . After working 6 months they found he was addicted to heroin. Martin Health has a renovation coming up on their hospital next year. I hope your local citizens get their act together this time so they can support their families . BE PREPARED is the boy scouts motto and our kids— our government —and your town are not prepared.

Good job passing passing proposal #91— I have suspected they are behind the environmental desasters we are faceing now.If they can find any opening –they will stick their foot in the door and hold out unlimited amounts of money . I think its time to go solar so we will not need their gas or bribe money. Your friend ,Brent
This is pretty much what happened to the small farmer all across America. When the politicians saw all the bribe money the corporate giant farmers could offer it was all over for the small farmer. I hope one day the work I helped do in Ukraine will help kick corporate giant farmers ass for destroying the small farmers. Keep up the good work.
I remember not that long ago a group of judges ruled in favor of BIG oil and wanted to drill for oil in Florida waters. Someone did some research and found all these “judges” had stocks in their portfolio of the oil companies that would be doing the drilling. I head at least one NO when proposition #91 was voted on. I wonder if anyone has checked this persons portfolio?
