Rest in Peace Luna, Tears in the Waters of America’s Great Loop

After leaving Stuart, Ed and I have been traveling America’s Great Loop for the last 154 days. Usually a happy journey, about two weeks ago the tide turned when we lost our beloved Belgium Shepard, Luna. Although she was twelve years old and we knew her passing was a possibility, we were not prepared. It was a normal day, then she collapsed, and passed within 2 hours.

Luna was rescued at Pet Smart in Jensen Beach, Florida in 2015. Within 2 hours of meeting her she was riding home with us. Adopting her has been the only decision of our marriage made without speaking. It was love at first sight for both Ed and me. Luna was a wonderful, integral family member and bigger than life. She taught  us many things, but most importantly, the meaning of a deeper loyalty.

We met her and in 2 hours she was part of our family. It also only took 2 hours to lose her.

She remains in our hearts. We love you Luna.

  8. So sorry to hear of your loss. Having four legged family members myself I know what a heart break this can be. I was so looking forward to the next installment of your journey, and Lunas passing was not what I was expecting. Of course now I am crying having suddenly lost my Maine Coon on June 1st. My condolences and may you both have happier days ahead. I am now bugging my husband as the great loop seems like something I would be inspired to do ( trying to get him inspired too).
Luna will always be with you in your heart. Allow yourselves time to grieve.

  32. Ed +Jacqui, although bittersweet, may Luna’s passing along the waters of the Great American Loop with her crew be a special part of your journey. I was as tickled as Ed was when he told me that Luna was to be a part of the crew. I can only imagine how the two of you were her secure and Happy Place. What a send-off! Godspeed.
